This sensor is used to send the oil temperature to the engine control unit to be continuously monitored.

Although this sensor seems to be a simple part, that does not mean it is immune to failure.

Over the years, and due to numerous heating and cooling cycles, the resistance in this sensors circuit will increase, causing it to send inaccurate readings to the engine control unit.

Once this happens, this sensor must be replaced.
