The oil filler cap covers the access hole on the valve cover, which allows oil filling, to prevent leaks and ensure an air tight seal. If the seal fails, the engine will run rough, due to an air leak from the crankcase, and allow oil to escape and causing a mess. Replace your missing or broken oil cap to stop leaks and keep your engine running smooth.
