The clutch master cylinder converts clutch pedal movement into hydraulic pressure that moves the clutch slave cylinder to actuate the clutch release bearing.
Prone to the same types of problems that afflict braking systems, the clutch master cylinder must be replaced when cylinder seals begin to leak pressure.
Don’t forget to check the rest of the hydraulic system when replacing the master cylinder, and be sure to order brake fluid so you can flush and bleed the clutch hydraulic system.
