The clutch pressure plate is the clamping and release mechanism that couples and decouples the engine flywheel and transmission input shaft through the friction disc. Worn, distorted, or broken pressure plates cause several undesirable symptoms, including clutch slippage, difficulty changing gears, and vibrations. Commonly replaced as part of a complete clutch system overhaul.
