Also known as the “clock spring”, this is the wiring harness for the steering wheel airbag and rim heating. This allows you to turn the wheel more than 360 degrees without twisting or pinching the wires. Failed contact units can cause squeaking when turning the steering wheel, or an illuminated air bag light.
