Description
The A/C condenser is is critical to the proper operation of the air conditioner in your vehicle. The condenser is where the high-pressure refrigerant gas from the compressor is condensed into a liquid. This liquid then flows through the rest of the refrigerant system and removes the heat from inside of the vehicle cabin.
If your air conditioner has stopped functioning, the condenser may be the culprit. This condenser is located directly behind the radiator grille, and because of this location, it is very susceptible to damage from road debris.
Once the condenser is damaged, it may develop a leak, discharging the refrigerant from the system and rendering the air conditioner inoperable. The only remedy is to replace your failed condenser and re-charge the system with refrigerant.
If you are replacing your A/C condenser, it is also recommended that you also replace the receiver / drier as well.
