The crankcase ventilation system on your Mercedes-Benz engine is an important part of the vehicle emissions system, and must be kept in proper working order for the car to run efficiently.

There are many hoses in the crankcase breather system, and because they are constantly exposed to heat and oily gasses, over the years the rubber that they are made out of starts to degrade and fall apart. The hoses are connected together by this plastic connector, which over time will become brittle and break easily when servicing.

The only remedy to this is to replace any failed crankcase breather hoses or connectors with new ones to keep the crankcase breather system functioning properly.
