This muffler was developed specially for the E39 with the M-Technic rear bumper. On all other E39s the tips sit below the stock bumper but the M-Technic versions have a cutout for the stock exhaust tip. This Supersprint muffler with dual round tips fits with the factory cutout but may require slight trimming for a perfect fit. You can also use this on non-M Technic E39s but it will require trimming of your bumper to fit around the tips. Trimming is easy and a great way of getting the M-Technic look without having to buy the whole bumper.
