Pre-cat oxygen sensor for cylinders 4-6 with M56 engines only. Developed by Robert Bosch GmbH in the late 1960s, oxygen sensors measure exhaust concentration of oxygen for gas engines. This helps monitor the air to fuel mixture in real time to determine if an engine is running rich or lean. Oxygen sensors not only help reduce emissions but they also help the engine run more efficiently. The lifetime of oxygen sensors is typically 100,000 miles.
