If your muffler is hanging low or dragging along the road, the hanger has probably failed. This hanger supports the rear muffler to the body of the vehicle. Often the rubber portion of the hangers becomes dried out and can easily crack or tear, so replace your damaged hangers to keep your exhaust system supported properly.
