Description
The brake master cylinder is the heart of the braking system on your Mercedes-Benz, and its failure will quickly put an end to your driving until it is replaced.
The master cylinder is attached to the brake power booster under the hood of your vehicle, and it is connected to the brake pedal via an operating rod. When you depress the brake pedal, it moves the piston inside of the master cylinder to send pressurized brake fluid throughout the braking system to each brake caliper to stop the vehicle.
If your master cylinder has failed, you will notice symptoms such as a soft brake pedal, brake fluid leaks, and increased stopping distance. What's more, if your master cylinder has failed, it can also lead to failure of your brake power booster, as brake fluid can leak into the power booster and cause the internal diaphragm to fail, so replace it today to avoid more costly repairs.
If you are replacing your master cylinder, you are going to need to bleed to the braking system, as well as bench bleed the master cylinder prior to installation, so be sure to have enough brake fluid on hand to do the job correctly. Euromotiv offers a full line of brake fluid from the worlds top manufacturers to help you keep your Mercedes-Benz stopping as well as it did when it was new.
