Mercedes-Benz uses a variable valve timing system to allow the engine to run at peak efficiency at most times, yet when power is needed the engine can automatically adjust valve timing at certain RPM ranges to bring out the most your engine has to offer.

This camshaft adjuster is bolted to the exhaust camshaft, and is driven by gears that mesh with the adjuster unit on the intake camshaft.
