Coolant Pipe "Crack Pipe"

The bypass pipe, commonly called the “crack pipe”, is the bypass pipe for hot coolant that runs from the back of the water pump to the thermostat housing. Located deep on the front of the engine, this pipe often breaks in as few as 50,000 miles as a result of contact with hot coolant. Replace it to fix your coolant leak.

Because VW/Audi made so many coolant piping pieces of hard plastic, it is common for these parts to break over the years.
