Description
The engine coolant temperature sensor is a thermistor located in the the engine thermostat housing (or similar location), used to measure the temperature of liquid engine coolant.
Changes in its resistance are used to operate the dashboard temperature gauge and by the engine computer for several purposes, including fuel control, cooling fan operation, and vehicle self-diagnostics.
