Description
The crankshaft position sensor reads the rotational speed of the crankshaft. The signals from the speed sensor are read by the ECU to control ignition timing and fuel injection. If the engine is revved with a faulty sensor, common issues include misfires, excessive engine vibrations and backfire. If the sensor is no longer reading signals at all, your vehicle may not start altogether, so be sure to replace your speed sensor to keep your car on the road.
