Distributor Cap - Priced Each

The ignition system in your Mercedes-Benz is crucial to your engine running efficiently and producing the amount of power it should, and one of the more important parts of this system would be the distributor cap.

The distributor cap is located on the distributor, and it distributes the spark from the rotor to each spark plug wire. The spark from the coil is sent through the cap, into the rotor, and the spark then jumps from the rotor back to the outside poles of the distributor, which is connected to a corresponding spark plug wire.

Due to the extreme environment that this cap operates in, over time resistance will increase causing a weak spark that does not properly burn all of the fuel inside of the combustion chamber. When performing a tune-up, many people replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires, but overlook the distributor cap.
