Description
Flex discs are used to transfer the power from the transmission to the driveshaft and so on until it reaches the wheels. When a high amount of force is applied, the rubber flex disc compresses a bit and flexes before it transmits power to the wheels. For stock daily driver vehicles this is great. It helps to eliminate some of the vibration in the drive line and helps keep the ride slightly smoother by absorbing some of the force being delivered to the driveshaft and differential.
For cars that are driven aggressively on the streets or for track cars that benefit the most from a more firm drive line, this Aluminum flex disc is a must. The CNC machined aluminum disc is rigid, not giving any flex when for is applied to it. Instead, the force is cushioned by the six individual bushings in the flex disc that are made of 80 durometer polyurethane. The polyurethane is much stiffer than the rubber, giving you the much more instantaneous transfer of power to the wheels. This makes accelerations quicker and much more predictable.
