The door lock assembly is inside the door frame and is the component that latches and releases the door. A failed lock assembly can cause many issues, including inability to keep the door closed, the inability to open the door at all, and interior lights staying on when the door is latched or not coming on when the door is open. If any of these are the case with your vehicle, it may be time to replace the door lock.
