Clogged and dirty fuel filters make it difficult for your engine to get the correct amount of fuel. Debris derived from the sides of the tank, or in the fuel itself, are sifted through screens inside the filter to keep them from reaching the injectors on your engine. Over time, the gunk caught by the filter can start to impair fuel flow and possibly starve your engine. With a new fuel filter, you may see an increase in fuel mileage due to a less restrictive flow.
