There is more to the fuel delivery system on your Mercedes-Benz than just getting the gasoline to the engine. Different running conditions demand different fuel pressures, and to maintain the correct fuel pressure at all times, the engine employs this fuel pressure regulator.
This fuel pressure regulator operates using engine vacuum to move a diaphragm, which varies the amount of fuel that can flow through the lines. Over the years though, this diaphragm can develop cracks and once it does, it will no longer function properly and can even begin to leak.
If you have noticed poor idle, a lack of power or a fuel leak under the hood of your car, a failed fuel pressure regulator may be to blame. If your fuel pressure regulator has failed, it must be replaced in order to keep your car running properly.
