Description
Head gasket failure is common in higher mileage vehicles or engines that have overheated. The signs of a failed head gasket include milky oil, loss of performance, and a sweet smelling white smoke from the exhaust. It is essential to replace yours immediately to prevent further damage to your engine.
Check the tool section to be sure you have everything needed to remove the cylinder head. Cylinder head fasteners are a one time use stretch bolt, only by replacing them can the proper torque reading be met to ensure the longevity of your repair.
Remember to have your cylinder head inspected at a local machine shop to see if resurfacing is needed. If its slightly warped, a new gasket will not seal properly.
