These bushings act as a suspension system for the engine, allowing a certain amount of movement. It also provides vibration and noise dampening between the engine and chassis while the engine is running, making a quieter and smoother ride. Rubber bushings can deteriorate due to the exposure of engine oils and extreme temperatures.
