Description
The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor is used in most modern vehicles and it provides instantaneous manifold pressure information to the engine control unit, or ECU. The data received are used to calculate air density and determine the engine’s air mass flow rate.
Anything that interferes with the MAP sensor's ability to monitor the pressure differential may upset the fuel mixture and ignition timing. This includes a problem with the MAP sensor itself. If your MAP sensor is going bad, you will notice surging, rough idle, a rich fuel condition, which may cause spark plug fouling and a loss of power and fuel economy.
There are numerous sensors on your Mercedes-Benz and if you need any of them replaced, Euromotiv has the parts for you.
