Description
Caliper carriers bolt to the knuckle and carry the brake caliper with pads on lubricated slide pins protected by rubber boots. Torn boots let water get in, washing away the grease. This leads to worn, seized pins that prevent caliper movement. Rusted accumulations in the pad mounting area lead to sticking pads and improper braking and/or premature or uneven brake pad wear. The carrier is sometimes referred to as a caliper frame.
