Anywhere two parts that have fluid, fuel or oil traveling through them come together on your engine, the use of a seal is required to prevent that fluid from leaking out between the seam.

That is where this crush washer comes in. This crush washer seals the gap between the two components, preventing leaks. Unfortunately, this crush washer is made of a soft metal, usually brass, and once it is installed it is crushed and cannot be reused.

This crush washer must be replaced anytime it is removed, this will ensure you won't have any unexpected leaks after it is reassembled. Don't risk fluid leaks, be sure to replace your crush washers whenever they are removed.
