Thermostat O-Ring

The cooling system on your Mercedes-Benz needs to be sealed in order to function properly. If it is not sealed, coolant will leak out leading to overheating and engine damage.

Everywhere there is a seam in the cooling system, there needs to be a seal in order to prevent coolant from leaking. The thermostat housing is no exception. This seal is located on top of the thermostat housing and seals the gap between the bleeder bolt and the thermostat housing.

If you are replacing your thermostat or just removing the bleeder bolt, this seal ring should be replaced.
