Description
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are incredibly user-friendly interfaces for making calls, listening to music and podcasts, and navigating, but they are typically only found on very late model vehicles and aftermarket head units. What if your vehicle has a factory multimedia or navigation screen but doesn't have this functionality? Aftermarket head units can be very expensive, if they're even available for your specific model. Fortunately Bremmen Parts has a solution with their Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto Retrofit Module. This module acts as a bridge to connect your phone's compatible apps to you car's factory infotainment screen and allows you to control it with the car's buttons and and knobs.
Installation is 100% plug and play and is completely reversible. Apple CarPlay can be used wired or wirelessly, while Android Auto can only be used wired. All of the factory infotainment features can still be accessed at the press of a button.
Installation Notes:
- Professional Installation is recommended if you are not familiar with car electronics and interior disassembly.
- The yellow LVDS connector remains plugged into your head unit.
- The grey LVDS connector gets unplugged and connected to the female green LVDS connectors included and the male green LVDS connector plugs into where the grey LVDS connector was originally on the factory head unit.
- The tan connector on the main harness plugs into the Can-Bus module (Either located above the driver's footwell to the left of the steering wheel in the Q7 or to the left of the glovebox in B8)
- The retrofit module is designed to be mounted above the driver's footwell on the top side of the lower dashboard cover. This ensures that all of the cables are the necessary length.
- The included microphone is optional since the car's factory microphone can still be used for phone calls, Siri, etc.
- For optimum wireless performance, do not stick the wireless antenna to a metal surface.
