Exhaust pipe flange gaskets are used to make an airtight seal between exhaust system sections. These gaskets are often used between header sections and catalytic components. Exhaust pipe flange gaskets are a common point of failure in the exhaust system and should be inspected when the tone or volume of the exhaust changes.
