The oil pump chain tensioner is a spring loaded tensioner that is attached the engine block. It keeps the oil pump chain tight to the crankshaft sprocket to keep your oil pump running. If the spring has worn, you may experience a rattle from the chain. Replace your faulty tensioner to keep your chain tight and oil pump running properly.
