The accelerator pedal opens the intake manifold throttle plate through a drive-by-wire system. As the pedal is pressed down, the sensor in the attached electronic control module sends a signal to the throttle body to start opening the throttle plate, then more air is introduced into the manifold and the vehicle accelerates faster. If the pedal in your vehicle has become damaged, or the throttle body is receiving incorrect signals from the pedal, this is your perfect replacement.
