Description
If your auxiliary water pump is starting to fail, you may notice coolant leaks, or even hear a whining noise coming from under the hood. The whining noise that this pump produces at failure would be similar to a belt squeal noise, while this is a common symptom the pump may still fail in a stuck position causing no sound. The sure way to tell if your auxiliary water pump has failed is either by codes showing up and if your vehicle does not blow hot air after the engine has reach operating temperature and shutting the engine off. An auxiliary water pump on your vehicle is used to assist in a stronger coolant flow as well as keeping the coolant circulating while the engine is off allowing for hot air to continue blowing through the vents without wasting fuel.
Keep your eyes peeled for warning signs it may be time to replace your water pump.
