Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Carrier - Track Bushings

The factory center support bearing carrier relies on an extremely thin layer of rubber to secure the driveshaft in place, allowing for minimal movement, which effectively prevents noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) from reaching the cabin. However, this design is less effective at maintaining the proper alignment of the bearing under heavy loads. Over time, it permits the bearing to gradually sag, disrupting the driveshaft alignment and introducing play in the driveline during gear shifts and throttle application. The original equipment manufacturer (OEM) rubber bushing tends to sag, become brittle, and eventually deteriorate, leading to dry rot and cracking. Even in the case of well-maintained vehicles, the stock bushing can start developing cracks in as little as 5-10 years. When the bushing loses its integrity, it can result in pronounced vibrations, clunking noises, and increased stress on the bearing. To compound the issue, the stock carrier is integrally molded onto the center support bearing, making replacement a challenging task that typically requires specialized tools.
