The fuel pressure regulator is a calibrated restriction in the fuel loop that controls fuel pressure at the injectors. Rail-mounted regulators commonly have a manifold vacuum sensing diaphragm that adjusts the size of the restriction to maintain a constant pressure drop at the injector tips.
