Description

In your car’s clutch system, the flywheel connects to the engine, and the clutch plate connects to the transmission. The friction between the flywheel and the clutch plate causes the clutch to engage. As with any metal part that comes in contact with another metal part (think brake pads on a disc brake rotor), eventually your flywheel will wear out. Older cars will normally require a replacement between 50,000-70,000, but more modern vehicles can go more than 80,000. If you notice your clutch is slipping, chattering, or sticking, check your flywheel for wear. When replacing the clutch. Single mass flywheels can be resurfaced, eliminating hot spots that cause changes in friction. However, dual mass flywheels cannot be resurfaced, and must be replaced. Dual mass flywheel conversion kits are available through euromotiv
